About ProGrass
Pro Grass Inc. traces its roots back to 1978 when Louis Cariello, a WWII veteran and former top salesman at Bob Davidson Ford, identified an opportunity in lawn care after a disappointing experience with a service provider. With entrepreneurial spirit, Louis teamed up with University of Maryland professors to found Pro Grass Lawn and Ornamental Care in his garage the following year. By 1980, the business expanded into commercial space on Greenspring Drive, initially serving the Timonium/Towson area with a small team.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Pro Grass flourished under Louis and his son Anthony’s leadership, steadily increasing its clientele and expanding its service offerings. After Louis’s unexpected passing in 2003, Anthony assumed leadership, supported by his wife Diane, who left her nursing career to contribute to Pro Grass’s growth.
Despite economic challenges such as the 2008 market crash, Pro Grass maintained momentum, relocating in 2015 to a larger facility on Greenspring Drive to accommodate its expanding operations. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2019, Pro Grass had established itself as a premier lawn care provider in Maryland, a reputation bolstered further during the COVID-19 pandemic. Record growth followed as more homeowners appreciated their well-maintained lawns while working from home.
As of 2024, Pro Grass continues its upward trajectory, poised for further expansion and innovation. Whether through additional locations or enhancing its current market presence, the company remains optimistic about its future prospects, driven by decades of experience and a dedication to customer satisfaction.

Louis Cariello (pictured on left) founded Pro Grass Inc. in 1979, drawing on his successful sales background to emphasize the importance of building trust with customers. Often sealing deals with a handshake while selling cars, that tradition continues at Pro Grass today. We believe in a straightforward approach—no contracts needed; a customer’s word is as good as a handshake for us.

If you’re looking for high quality work and top notch customer service, ProGrass is the only way to go. From general fertilization/weed control, to perimeter pest control, mosquito control, aeration and seeding, they can take care of you. You will have one technician assigned to your lawn who knows it’s ins and outs and will work with you to get it looking just the way that you want. You will also receive application reports so you know exactly what was done and what products were used during that visit. Jason Dixon is my tech. He has made a career in turf grass management and you can tell that he truly cares. If there are specific needs/questions that you have, they are quick to answer. I can’t stress enough the value of the customer service that ProGrass provides.

I have been with Pro Grass for 8 years. Value is excellent. Initially my lawn was a mess after we built on old farmland. Today the lawn is in superior condition across 2+ acres. Staff is professional – they do a nice methodical application even in hard to get to places. Despite weather patterns over the years they never seem to get “off cycle” with their applications – this is a good thing. I would, and have recommended them to others.
